The Formula 1 World Championship with a little Rain!

The Formula 1 World Championship got underway in Belgium after the long summer break, with free practice for the twelfth round of the season. As always, it rained this morning in the Ardennes, with the clouds arriving just minutes into the start of the first session.

The Mercedes duo of Michael Schumacher (1.54.355) and Nico Rosberg (1.54.829) topped the time sheet, setting their times right at the start, followed quite a way back by Jenson Button (2.02.740) in the McLaren.

The Ferrari duo of Felipe Massa (2.04.728) and Fernando Alonso (2.07.055) finished seventh and eleventh respectively. They spent the morning evaluating the aero adjustments as best they could in the conditions. They both ran intermediate tires, as well as trying some practice starts at the end of the ninety minutes.

Ferrari 458 Steering Wheel Replicated As Xbox 360 Controller!

One of the most complex parts of a modern Formula One car is its steering wheel! Which can be worth tens of thousands of dollars on its own! Packing all the controls you'd expect to find on a dashboard right onto the wheel itself. Ferrari took a similar approach with the steering wheel on the 458 Italia, moving the starter button, chassis mode dial, windshield…
2012 Ferrari 458 Italia Spider Debuts Ahead of 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show!

Ferrari has officially revealed its spectacular 458 Italia Spider, three weeks before the 562-horsepower 4.5-liter V8-powered super car is due to make its public premiere at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show. Set to go on sale in the U.S. in early 2012, the new car will compete head-on with the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder.

Described by the Italian car maker as the first mid-rear-engine super car to feature a retractable roof, the 458 Italia Spider eschews the traditional fabric hood used by a long line of illustrious open-top Ferrari models down through the years for a contemporary hardtop.

The official photographs generated by Ferrari do not show the new aluminum hardtop, but Ferrari says it has been engineered to fit in front of the engine bay without any compromise to aerodynamics or performance over the 458 Italia. Additional domes behind the high-set seat backs are said to help channel wind over the rear bodywork to air intakes used to cool the engine, clutch and gearbox.

Ferrari F50 GT Poses Next To Its Road-Going Brother!

The F50 is the rarest of the Ferrari supercars. Just 349 examples were built, all of which are leased right from the start to prevent owners from immediately turning and selling them for a profit. Current examples are worth something around three-quarters of a million dollars.

When it comes to rare Ferrari's, though, the F50 GT just about takes the cake. Built on the F50…
