The Formula 1 World Championship with a little Rain!

The Formula 1 World Championship got underway in Belgium after the long summer break, with free practice for the twelfth round of the season. As always, it rained this morning in the Ardennes, with the clouds arriving just minutes into the start of the first session.

The Mercedes duo of Michael Schumacher (1.54.355) and Nico Rosberg (1.54.829) topped the time sheet, setting their times right at the start, followed quite a way back by Jenson Button (2.02.740) in the McLaren.

The Ferrari duo of Felipe Massa (2.04.728) and Fernando Alonso (2.07.055) finished seventh and eleventh respectively. They spent the morning evaluating the aero adjustments as best they could in the conditions. They both ran intermediate tires, as well as trying some practice starts at the end of the ninety minutes.

"Concorso Ferrari" returned to Old Town Pasadena for its third year. This is an exclusive Ferrari Concours showcasing over 120 of the finest vintage and contemporary models. Open to Judged and Non-Judged Ferrari's with awards in 10 classes. This annual Spring event is free to the public and presented on three blocks of Colorado Boulevard closed to traffic.
The Auto Gallery continued their sponsorship of the FCA "Concorso Ferrari" annual Spring event in Pasadena with a display featuring the latest Ferrari 458, a black California, a Grigio Silver-stone 599, a yellow 430 Ferrari Spyder and a selection from Maserati. The Auto Gallery booth drew crowds all day and was complemented by an Art Center College of Design exhibit showing concept drawings and scale model renderings.

As for the cars, the show always includes Ferrari's from all eras. Three 250GTs - two 1956s and one a 1960 -- won the club's coveted platinum awards, but platinum's also went to Dino's, 308s, 328s, 348s, 355s, an F40 and a 512M. Also included were a gunmetal metallic Enzo, three 250GT Lusso, a 375MM Spyder, two spectacular Zagato body 250GTs, a Lancia D50 run at the time by Ferrari and
a yellow 1956 500TRC shown by Steve Tillack.

Remember this is an annual event! Look for it next year some time in May! This is a great family event with tons of great things to do and learn.
